Colonizing the North
Spirit Lake was the site of an internment camp for so-called 'enemy aliens' during the FIrst World War. They were sent to this remote area and forced to work clearing land and preparing the region for agricultural settlement.
This project has been made possible by a grant from the Endowment Council of the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund.
